Hi friend,
Our bodies’ speak to us through the language of sensation. A rumbling in the tummy. A shooting pang in the chest. A gurgling in the throat.
So often we want to make sense of these sensations before we even allow ourselves to fully feel them. Maybe if we know why we’re feeling this way, it will go away sooner. This is what modern psychology has taught us, after all.
Awareness is the cornerstone of psychological well-being, right?!
Well, yes, but if we’re only focusing on the “why am I like this?” we miss out on the language of the body, which is a major piece of the awareness puzzle. We miss out on sensations that help paint in the colors to our experiences. We miss out on living fully embodied and whole.
Self-awareness is not just understanding the why and what of who you are. It is so much deeper, more profound than that. It’s a moment to moment curiosity of what’s happening in the body at any given moment.
Our bodies remember everything that’s ever happened to us.
Why are we hell bent on ignoring it’s messages?
In the 15-minute lecture recording below, I dive deep into the importance of a more holistic approach to awareness, and how it can support you in living more alive and present.
In the recording, I discuss the different generalized parts of the brain that are associated with the different types of awareness, and why that matters.
I hope this video serves you in the way you’re needing right now.
Be well,
The holistically aware part
